Spitskoppe is a typical southern Namibian farm, situated 63 km south
of Maltahöhe on route to Helmeringhausen and Luderitzbucht. This 12
000 ha ranch is situated on the Schwarzrand mountain range and
abounds in wildlife. We take great pride in showing off our Kudu,
Oryx, Springbok, Ostrich and Zebra on organized 4x4 farm tours. It
is an old historical German farm which was used as a heliopraphical
relay station, between Helmeringhausen and Hoftmanskuppe near
Mlatahöhe by the German Schutztruppe. The beacon can still be seen.
The farmstead is situated at the entrance of a dramatic mountain
valley guarded by a cone shaped hill from which the farm derives its
name. A tributary of the Haseweb River, that has it's origin in this
valley, is flanked by a luxurious riverside forest, which houses a
spectacular variety of bird life. A ground dam, 3 km from the
farmstead, has bird-viewing facilities and can be reached either on
foot or by car on a well-maintained gravel road. This is a working
farm and the visitor can get an indepth insight into goat, sheep and
cattle farming. We are not far from Zebra Park, Sesriem Canyon and
Sossusvlei. During school holidays, we cater for children (only
visits). For the tourist wanting to sample the traditional flavour
of Namibian farm life and hospitality, we are the ideal stop-over en
route to Luderitzbucht.
